Challenge by Daily Health Conference

We were challenged by Ironhack and the Daily Health Conference to develop a digital mobile app that embodies an innovative approach to wellness and the health field. Our task was to address various aspects of well-being, offering a competitive and unique user experience in a saturated market.

Our ambition

Personally affected by the challenges of home care within our families, we sought to find a solution to better support home caregivers in their daily lives. Our goal is to enable them to provide higher quality care to their patients without experiencing additional mental burden often associated with organizational issues.

Why adressing home caregivers?

While health professionals and customers have a wide array of apps available to facilitate their daily work, home caregivers are often overlooked. Additionally, developed countries like France are experiencing a growing aging population with dependence, necessitating personalized care that can be overwhelming for home caregivers. Indeed, while the demand for home caregivers is increasing, their working conditions are often challenging, worsening feelings of loneliness.

Investigating conditions of home care givers

Our survey received 45 responses, confirming that time management, task tracking, and information sharing are key issues for home caregivers.

Opportunities identified among our competitors

While our competitors offer all kinds of options, these ones are usually not easily accessible since the user is overloaded with information. In addition, we have observed that many apps lack features such as 'shared task tracking,' intended to facilitate collaboration between employers and caregivers.

Qualitative data confirming our assumption

Our 6 user interviews reveal that ways of communications are not always appropriate, which can make home caregivers feel insecure and lonely.

How might we help our home caregivers in their communications…

We identifed an issue with information sharing among caregivers when receiving instructions from their employer and when communicating patient-related tasks to colleagues caring for the same patient.

Brainstorming our solution

Our CareCompanion Solution proposes to enhance communication and collaboration for home care givers. It includes patient overviews, task and note tracking, and a feature for viewing and classifying notes by patient. The system also notifies caregivers about alarming patient issues, fostering teamwork and ensuring suitable care, while addressing feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Testing our concept

The wording, illustrations, icons, and calls to action are the main issues that have disrupted our testers' exploration of our concept.

Your Care Companion branding

We wanted to create an app for home caregivers that is simple, collaborative, and calming. We noticed that our competitors often use aggressive colors like red, which can convey a stressful feeling and make caregivers even more anxious than they already are.

Our visual identity

Our primary medium-dark blue evokes a sense of calmness and tranquility. Our shade of turquoise is adding a feeling of balance and freshness. The accent green color is there to convey a sense of vitality and positivity, and openness to work with one another.

Final product

One application to ease information sharing between caregivers

The application first allows you as a caregiver to check latest updates relating to your patient before you start your job of the day. You can view the list of your patients and check the patient’s profile you are going to take care of. In addition to useful information about the patient, notes have been left by your colleagues and important ones are notified with a red dot.

One application supporting shared tracking of tasks

Once you have accomplished your tasks as a caregiver, you can indicate them in tasks category relating to your patients. You have to write a note to mention your key observations and notify it as important in case there is an important note you wants to make noticeable to your colleague. Once tasks are submitted, they are directly communicated to your employer.
