UX Design Challenge by Ironhack
Challenged by Ironhack, we embarked on a mission to develop an MVP tailored for women enduring conflictual relationships with food and having tried many diets, without lasting success. Our objective was to cover all aspects of this issue and provide a better experience than what's currently available in the market.
Our ambition
Our solution aims to empower women struggling to maintain long-term weight stability by fostering a deeper connection with their bodies, helping them become more aware of their overall relationship with food and making healthier choices.
Why adressing this issue?
Women often struggle to maintain a stable weight over the long term because they do not use the right methods. This issue is not only major worldwide, but it also significantly affects women in France who try to address their weight concerns using nutrition apps. These facts indicate that many women face challenges with their food habits and weight management.
Opportunities identified among our competitors
Various competitors in the market offer solutions aimed at assisting women in weight loss, with Weight Watchers presenting the most comprehensive offering. However, none of the existing competitors provide a platform for women to efficiently organize their weekly routines, crucial for achieving and maintaining a balanced diet in the long term.
Qualitative research confirming our assumption
We conducted 5 interviews of women who confirmed us their difficulty to stabalize their relationship with food. One of the primary challenges identified by interviewees is the need to avoid excessive control.
How might we help women with food challenges...
We discovered that our users frequently struggle to enjoy their meal without feeling guilty and fearful of falling back into unhealthy habits, thereby affecting their social interactions.
Brainstorming our solution
Our MVP is designed to help women improve their relationship with food by reconnecting with their bodies. It liberates them from the vicious cycle of yo-yo dieting and negative self-talk by integrating self-care practices such as journaling, exercise, meditation, and affirmations, alongside structured food routines including meal plans, recipes, and engaging challenges.
Testing our concept
Based on user feedback, it became evident that there was a need to enhance the call-to-action elements, as well as to refine the prioritization and organization of information.
Sereny Plate Branding
Our goal was to create an app that empowers women, offering them reassurance and enjoyment as they seek to achieve a balanced approach to their food habits. While our competitors excel in professionalism, they often lack the element of fun and clarity in their offerings. Therefore, we strive to offer a simple, calming and enjoyable user experience, guiding our users towards a more harmonious relationship with food without imposing any undue pressure.
Our visual identity
Our primary blue-purple hue promotes emotional balance and reflects our holistic approach. Calming blue-green enhances relaxation, while vibrant yellow adds fun and positivity to the experience. Intuitive icons motivate users as they build their weekly planners, supporting their comfort and engagement.
Final product
Welcome to Sereny Plate
Upon opening the app, users can select their mood for the day and write their thoughts in their digital journal. Then, they can update their weekly planner, which offers a comprehensive overview of their accomplishments and pending tasks. Users can also find inspiration for various activities such as cooking, self-care, sports, and community challenges to integrate healthy routines.
Food section at the core of our weekly planner
The food section provides inspiration for creating a meal plan through different recipes and weekly featured dishes. Once users find a recipe they like, they can add it to their meal plan and download the ingredient list. All selected recipes are saved in the meal plan, where users can assign meals to specific days of the week manually or activate the toggle for automatic assignment.
The community, a motivational factor
The community will encourage users to further engage in building their weekly planner, for example, by incorporating enjoyable weekly challenges.
